A rare fish is making some big waves at a hotel in Salem, Oregon. The one-in-a-million albino channel catfish is now housed in a 300-gallon aquarium at the Salem Inn.

The owner, Bill Hammond, bought the fish for nine dollars from a Salem-area pet store. Hammond was told the fish was caught in the Columbia River at the Bonneville Dam.

The two-and-a-half-year-old fish, named Whiskers, is estimated to be worth six- to seven-thousand dollars. In a few more years, Whiskers will be donated to its new home at the Oregon Coast Aquarium in Newport.

Hammond says people from all over Oregon -- and from as far away as Germany and Australia -- have come to stay at the hotel just to see the rare white fish with pink eyes.
